Jeera Rice
jeera rice - steamed rice flavoured with mild spices and cumin seeds

- 1 cup basmati rice
- 2 cups water
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 3-4 cloves
- 3-4 cardamom
- 2 bay leaves
- salt to taste
- 1-2 tsp lime or lemon juice
- 2 tbsp ghee
Wash and soak rice for 10 minutes
In a thick bottom, deep pan, add the ghee and the whole spices along with bay leaves
add the cumin seeds and let it sizzle
drain the rice and add to the pan. Give it a light mix
add water, salt and lime juice and let it come to a boil
Reduce the flame to medium and let the rice cook covered until done, usually around 7-8 minutes
